Colour Correcting 101

Jennie Kay from The Beauty Pin teaches us a little lesson on colour correcting. Colour correcting is an important step that one shouldn't avoid because it gives that even and flawless complexion.

Green: Cancels RED | This is what you want to use to cancel out redness from pimples, Rosacea, Eczema, Sunburns, etc. L’Oreal Studio Secrets Color Correcter can be applied under your everyday makeup.

Yellow: Cancels PURPLE | You may have purple under eyes or bruised skin. We love to use the Ben Nye Banana Powder to set your under eyes after you conceal them to add a bit more coverage.

Orange: Cancels BLUE | Orange corrector are used to counteract any blue tones in the skin, especially directly under the eyes and on bruised skin.

Pink: Cancels BROWN | This helps camouflage brown spots, age spots, sun spots, acne scarring, and more; it is especially helpful for fair skin tones. MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microperfecting Primer not only corrects and moisturizes the skin, but also gives the face an even tone. Armani Master Corrector features micro pearls which reflect light and create an illuminated complexion.

Purple: Cancels YELLOW| Purple can help hide yellow skin tones or complexion, as well as sallowness – counteracting yellow and green tones. Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer helps to even out and brighten dull or yellow skin.

Think of the colour wheel when colour correcting on yourself or clients. Whatever discolouration that needs to be evened out, use the opposite on the colour wheel.
